The new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll included a question on the use of drones. As the WSJ reports:
66% said they favored the use of unmanned aircraft to kill suspected members of al Qaeda and other terrorists, while only 16% said they were in opposition and 15% said they didn’t know enough to form an opinion.
I am sure that this will only stiffen the resolve of those in the administration who have supported the extensive use of drones. Unlike the president, the Congress, and the Affordable Care Act, drones have the enthusiastic support of the people. After all, vox populi, vox Dei.
Of course, when it comes to the voice of the people, I often find Alcuin of York to be more persuasive: “Nec audiendi qui solent dicere, Vox populi, vox Dei, quum tumultuositas vulgi semper insaniae proxima sit.”
