Another brick falls out of the official Camelot tower, yes. But really surprising, no – although the depth of his apparent depravity is a bit eyebrow raising. Furthermore, the allegations about drug use aren’t all that noteworthy either, especially after Robert Dallek discussed Kennedy’s issues with drugs back in 2002.
I’m more interested in seeing how left feminists react. Will they be as silent or defensive as they were when President Clinton’s activities were revealed? I would think it would be strategically savvy to noisily overcorrect since there is very little at stake in preserving JFK’s memory compared to protecting Clinton’s presidency. It could also revive their arguments which became less publicly compelling after they failed to chastise Bubba for doing so much of what they said a powerful man should not do.
I’m guessing a good friend of mine (and economist) who loves Presidents and the Presidency will not be happy to hear this stuff.

I’m no Kennedy fan, JFK nor any of the other louts, but airing of these allegations now offends me because he is not around to defend himself. That just seems wrong to me.
There are people out there called ‘Historians,’ you may have heard of them.
Indeed, but these are not them, are they? And these details, however consistent with the common knowledge of the man and his behavior, are but one person’s allegations, are they not?
I must admit to developing some sympathy for Mr. Cleveland’s perspective: where is the feminist outrage about this? I suppose they will speak up about this around the same time as they do about John Edwards.
What a funny caricature you’ve imagined for yourself(!): “I’m more interested in seeing how left feminists react. Will they be as silent or defensive as they were when President Clinton’s activities were revealed?” What a convenient, creative and over-generalizing way of dismissing feminist arguments! What is your concept of that ideology beyond ‘Clinton-voters’, exactly? The ‘non-partisan’ libertarian blog — ha!
I’m certainly not dismissive of feminist arguments regarding the abuse of power relations. However, it was widely remarked at the time of the Clinton issue that left feminists weren’t exactly reacting as one might expect. I’m not sure how you get partisanship in this post?
widely remarked by who? “as one might expect”…well, what do you think THE ‘feminist’ position would be? do you actually think that there is one single voice? it’s partisan because you created this thing that doesn’t exist (THE feminist position) and launched it against hillary clinton’s person life issues. why do you always pick democrats? you don’t think this ridiculousness happens to republicans? it’s just too obvious that your blinded by US cabel/print media’s production of a binary discourse. and therefore partisan
